Surfrider Pacific Rim Best Environmental Steward - Winner's Day on Vargas Island — at Cedar Coast Field Station. September 21 · · Surfrider took part in this year's Bruhwiler Kid's Classic that was held on September 16th by hosting the first annual Best Environmental Steward contest. Kids at the competition had the chance to exemplify their environmental stewardship and get entered to win the contest. The prize consisted of a trip to the Cedar Coast Field Station on Vargas Island, swag bag, treats, games, and a remote beach clean up! The lucky winners were Arielle, Lilly and Toby, who went along with Surfrider on September 24th to Vargas. We ended up having an incredible day with the Cedar Coast scientists, and had a successful beach clean on Keltsmaht beach, picking up 6 bags of trash, 10 bags of recycling, and one massive super sac worth of styrofoam! Thanks to Earth Mama Love Kitchen Collective and Tofino Cake Studio for the amazing treats, Keltsmaht Enterprises Water Taxi Service for the boat support, Cedar Coast Field Station for hosting all of us, and Jamie's Whaling Station & Adventure Centres for supporting our Love Your Beach Clean Program, which made this day possible!
